July 2 Cross Canada Trip

The end of our adventure is almost here. Mid June we decided to make the extreme effort to travel across the Country in an attempt to arrive in Halifax for a family function. The reason for it being a challenge we wanted to spend the Canada day holiday weekend at the Ponoka rodeo  and then leaving on July 2 to be in Halifax for July 6.

July 2… we left Alberta  at 5:30 am and after 1370k  arrived at Walmart in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba  at 11:00 pm, Central time… entered Saskatchewan at 11:30 am and entered Manitoba at 7:45pm.

July 3… we left Manitoba  at 6 am and after 1080k  arrived at Tourist Bureau in Longlac , Ontario  at 10:00 pm, Eastern time… entered Ontario at 9:50 am

July 4… we left Longlac Ont.  at 6 am and after 1210 k  arrived at Canadian Tire  in Casselman  , Ontario  at 10:30 pm, Eastern time.

July 5… we left Casselman, Ont.  at 5:30 am and after 1236 k  arrived at Loch Lomond RV park   in Amherst , N.S.  at 10:00 pm, Atlantic time..entered Quebec at 7 am, entered N.B. at 3:40 Atlantic Time.. entered N.S. at 9:45 pm.

July 6… we left Amherst , N.S..  at 9 am and after 298 k  arrived at Woodhaven RV park in Hammonds Plains ,N.S. Somewhere along the Cobequid pass in N.S. we had logged 5000km across Canada from Alberta.

Of note.. we could not have done this with one driver … salute to Bonnie . The long days and the prairies were an advantage. Speaking of the  prairies, they were not as we expected , small rolling type hills, not pancake flat and not boring . The roads in northern Ontario were the worst we travelled thru all of our adventure including the USA. Some of the best roads in Canada … N.B. first, N.S. second. Some sights that were memorable in no particular order , the forest in Oregon (redwoods &sequoias), the Oregon coast , the Okanagan valley in B.C., the Rockies, the rodeos , Mt.  St. Helens, Death Valley, sea lions cave, British Columbia, loggers competition in Sequim , Washington , hot springs in B.C.
Some of our favourite towns in no particular order… Sequim Washington, Vernon/ Osoyoos & Powell River all ofB.C.

We have enjoyed our adventure immensely and hope to arrive home in the next few days and would definitely do it all again-just not right away.
