On Tuesday we moved to Fairmont Hot Springs RV Resort. The weather
is not going to be good and there is nothing in Donald. Also we will have less
of a drive when we move onto Okotoks just
south of Calgary For Friday. We spent some time in the hot springs and went for
a hike on top of the Hoodoos (rock formation). The rain started early evening
and has now rained for three days . We had tried to get to the RV park at
Okotoks but they were full so we have to wait until Friday, but since then we
received a call on Thursday informing us of decision to evacuate the rv park
due to possible flooding. So we need to change our plans and find another rv
park that will not be prone to flooding . On that note we have been watching
the water rise in the valley below. The rv park here had a meeting with all the
rv’ers and gave us all options to vacate. The emergency people with the B.C.
government were concerned that the creek flowing thru the rv park would take
out a culvert and isolate the park from access to main road. So our option was
to not move or move the trailer to just electric site on the other side of
creek and give us two nites free at the hotel resort. So Thursday & Friday
nites are in the resort which is nice because of the rain . So now the wait is
on.. the three main routes across the rockies are all shut down due to flooding
and mudslides.
