We left Granum on Thursday June 27 for Lacombe . On the way we stopped at Drumheller Dinosaur museum.Lots off dinosaur fossils discovered in Alberta.Had a couple of detours on the way due to flooding, one bridge had been taken out by the waters so we had to turn around... a little trickey with the fifth wheel.Arrived at Lacombe municipal park at 5:30.We have had a really good time travelling with our rv friends , lots of laughter and fun. Next is the rodeo on Sunday and Canada day. We head for home on Tuesday, very ambitious schedule, Wedding in Halifax on July 6.

The different layers of rock in Drumheller  reminded us of Utah.

June 22, Alberta Bound

Saturday June 22 , we are finally able to leave and cross the rockies into Alberta. There is a lot of water and the creeks are now fast flowing rivers. Three times the roads were down to one lane going over the bridges and only one detour due to road closure. The original destination of Okotoks is changed, the rv park there is flooded and we were notified it might be a week before they are back in business. So our new destination is Granum, just a SMALL town north west of Lethbridge . Our friends from Utah arrived before us and after setting up our rv the folks from Ontario arrived. We will be touring around the area until we head north for the long weekend and the rodeo in Ponoka .

Bridge ahead is down to one lane

We made it across

June 21, Fairmont Hot Springs

The hole is the natural hot spring, too hot to leave my hand in it for 10 secs.

Just a small natural hot spring  tub, water is not treated and is being constantly  replenished  naturally

There are 4 small natural hot spring tubs in this building

Sandstone rock formations, we hiked to the top and overlooked the valley

June 21, Fairmont Hotel

On Tuesday we moved  to Fairmont Hot Springs RV Resort. The weather is not going to be good and there is nothing in Donald. Also we will have less of a drive when we move onto Okotoks  just south of Calgary For Friday. We spent some time in the hot springs and went for a hike on top of the Hoodoos (rock formation). The rain started early evening and has now rained for three days . We had tried to get to the RV park at Okotoks but they were full so we have to wait until Friday, but since then we received a call on Thursday informing us of decision to evacuate the rv park due to possible flooding. So we need to change our plans and find another rv park that will not be prone to flooding . On that note we have been watching the water rise in the valley below. The rv park here had a meeting with all the rv’ers and gave us all options to vacate. The emergency people with the B.C. government were concerned that the creek flowing thru the rv park would take out a culvert and isolate the park from access to main road. So our option was to not move or move the trailer to just electric site on the other side of creek and give us two nites free at the hotel resort. So Thursday & Friday nites are in the resort which is nice because of the rain . So now the wait is on.. the three main routes across the rockies are all shut down due to flooding and mudslides.
