June 15 Donald B.C.

Left Vernon  on Saturday June 15 for Donald B.C. , destination is Campers Haven RV park. Very  scenic drive thru the rockies and Rogers Pass. Park owners name is Yvon Guay. We are the only campers in the park, stayed for three nites and had only two others arrive while we were here. Drove the golden triangle, Golden B.C. to Lake Louise , Alberta, then towards Banff until hit highway  93 across the rockies westward to Radium  B.C. and then north back to Golden. Stopped for picture taking at Lake Louise and then at Radium for a swim at the hot springs. Saw a bear cub and the mother run across the highway and also saw some mountain goats on a cliff beside the highway. On Monday June 17 we decided to go white water rafting on the kicking horse river with a tour company. There were 7 of us including the guide who was actually steering the raft thru 11k of rapids , some class 3 others class  4, we were all dressed in wet suits including helmets. I’ll post a picture from their website is is similar to what we went thru. Met one guide by the name of Ryan Vrooman who has relatives in Saint John.. he mentioned  Nancy Moore and Ronald Moore but  he couldn’t remember where in Saint John since it was when he was a kid.  We moved down to Fairmont Hot springs Rv Resort since the forcast is rain and there is nothing in Donald.

Typical scenery thru rockies... what happens to all the snow when it melts?

One arm in B.C., the other in Alberta.

Saw these two guys hanging around beside Radium Hot Springs, they blended well into the hillside.

Drove to the highest point in Vernon and saw the whole valley before us,And on our way stopped at a honey mead farm .Off to  the town of Lumby for Lumby days and watched motorbikes jump ramps ( one guy lost control after landing and got hurt, put an early stop to the event)..Short hike to Shuswap falls ..We hiked Turtle mountain, another vista point in Vernon. After ,we stopped at Davisons orchard, neat little apple farm that caters to the tourists. Talked to Bob for ½ hour about the history of the area, Bob is 2nd generation of 4 who is working the farm ( grampy).Mid week we were at our friends for pulled pork and two other couples  we had met in Phoenix, like old home week. June 4, Osoyoos,B.C.

On the road by 8:30 am  Tuesday June 4 , headed for Osoyoos ,B.C. This is as close to desert climate in Canada. This is in the Okanagan valley which is home to many types of fruit orchards and vineyards. The saying goes..if its not hot in Osoyoos its not hot anywhere in the valley. We saw temps in the low 30’s the three days we stayed there. The town itself has all the amenities you need and just the right size. On Friday June 7 we head for Vernon B.C.
